There are many different types of acne that affect millions of people each year. While there are different types of acne, practically all acne can be treated safely. Here are some tips on the different types of acne.
Acne affects millions of people each year and it is usually regarded as the most common skin disorder. Most people suffer from acne vulgaris which includes pimples with white heads and black heads. Cysts also fall into this category as well.
White heads are caused by clogged hair follicles. Inside each clogged hair follicle is sebum. Sebum is an oily substance that bacteria feed on. These pimples or lesions fill up with sebum, bacteria, and dead skin which causes a white head.
Different types of acne also include black heads. While many people think the black head is caused by dirt, it is actually caused by the skins pigment. Black heads are also different from white heads in that they are partially clogged.
Cysts are also very common to acne sufferers. Cysts are pimples or nodules that become infected underneath the skin. Many people complain from Cysts pain and usually a cyst is defined as being over 5 mm in diameter. Do not try to pop a cyst pimple, you can make an infection worse or create a scar. If you have a cyst for a couple of days and you are still in pain or the cyst is becoming larger it is advisable to seek medical attention. By knowing the different types of acne, you can help diagnose your acne situation and seek treatments that can help rid your face of this skin disorder.
